Many of us are of the opinion that we have nothing in this country that is made in Namibia by Namibians. Many of us are even more confused to hear that vegetables grow in an arid country such as Namibia. Fruit and Veg City is not Namibian however, it on average stocks 40% Namibian veggies and fruit annually. In December the average increases to at least 60%.

In lieu of the above, the Naturally Namibian Fresh Produce was launched at Fruit and Veg City to show Namibians what they should be proud of. This initiative was launched by the then Prime Minister, RH Theo-Ben Gurirab on behalf of His Excellency the Founding President of the Republic of Namibia, Dr. Sam Nujoma.

The objective was to introduce the logo to the public and make Namibians aware of what is available in the country. Amazing, Fruit and Veg City is stocking Namibian fruit’s and veggies, and we just did not know that this is happening. When you now look around Fruit and Veg City you would notice that Namibian fresh produce is branded as Naturally Namibian and you are now able to know that what you are buying, is grown in Namibia.

The management of Fruit and Veg City and the Mistress of Ceremonies, Mrs. Hilda Basson- Namundjebo invited the Prime Minister to ‘shop ‘till he drops’. Of course there was a ‘catch’ he could only shop for Naturally Namibian fresh produce, which he could easily identity!

We are sincerely grateful to Fruit and Veg City for running ahead of the pack and showing commitment to further the interests of the country. In this way Fruit & Veg City is assisting Team Namibia in the achievement of our goals. This is just one milestone achieved; we still need to get other member products ‘front’ space in all retail outlets.
