| Who is behind Team Namibia? | |
Team Namibia is a Section 21 (non profit) company set up by the Namibian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI), with a board of directors comprising representatives from government, business, labour and business community. The interim chairman is Tarah Shaanika (NCCI). |
| Why was Team Namibia launched? | |
The company was launched to promote those Namibian companies, products and services which are substantially helping to build our economy, and are socially responsible. The logo gives the consumer who wants to support the campaign, a way to identify these companies and products. |
| What does the Team Namibia logo stand for? | |
The logo signifies that the company, in manufacturing and delivering its products and service, meets the criteria set by the Team Namibia campaign. The criteria include local content (the company’s products and services must incur 1/3 or more of production in Namibia), quality (the company’s products and services must meet high quality standards), as well as a commitment to fair labour and employment practise and sound environmental standards. |
| Is Team Namibia only for businesses and companies? | |
No, Team Namibia is open to virtually any organisation or individual who supports its aims and objectives. These are some of the organisations who can join: sports bodies, local authorities, educational and health institutions, NGO’s, associations, governmental departments, cultural groups, companies and regional governments. Individuals are welcome to join as supporters. |
| What about Namibian owned? | |
When a company manufactures in Namibia it employs Namibians, pays taxes here and adds value to our economy. Some Namibian companies do not manufacture here. So Namibian owned is great but Namibian made is best. |
| What stops anyone from using the logo without permission? | |
Both the Team Namibia and Naturally Namibian logo’s are registered Trademarks which may only be used by accredited members. Any use of the logo must be approved by Team Namibia. Unauthorised use of the logo will be prosecuted. |
| Why should you support it? (Namibian Consumers) | |
The emphasis on local content is to help protect and create jobs. The more Namibian made products we buy, the more we stimulate local production and this will hep create the conditions for producers to seek labourers and in so doing contribute to alleviating unemployment. |
| What is the difference between Team Namibia and Naturally Namibian? | |
Team Namibia is the organisation that promotes Namibian goods and services under one generic brand - Naturally Namibian. The Naturally Namibian is the endorsement brand that signifies that a particular company, product or service has met a set of criteria. |
