Namdeb is a key stakeholder in the Namibian economy and the second largest employer, outside government. It is also the biggest taxpayer and exporter in Namibia. Diamonds account for more than 30 percent of Namibia's total exports and 10 percent of Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Namdeb is one of Namibia's most competitive employers in terms of total remuneration paid to employees, capital investment and contribution to GDP.

Namdeb's employee training and development has been hailed as the most comprehensive in Namibia. company spends more than N$15million on training and development annually. This figure includes bursaries to Namibians studying in various fields.
