Her Worship, Councillor Elaine Trepper, officially launched the www.events.com.na website at the National Arts Gallery on 1 March 2006.

This website is an initiative by Michelle le Roux and Angela Watkins. These two women have over the years realised that events that take place in the country sometimes happen simultaneously leaving people to ponder upon which event to attend. Her worship emphasised that these uncoordinated management of events and functions have led to confusions and at times some of these events unfortunately lost their importance completely.

Hence, the ladies felt the need to start an online site that provides information on important events, functions and conferences taking place in Namibia. The site is accessible to everyone to plan their week or month ahead, taking cognizance of other events already on the calendar, and at no cost.

The site should thus be viewed as a tool that can be used to effectively plan activities in the country. It also displays a list of all service providers in the events organizing industry, which ultimately provides companies with details of service providers they can possibly choose from to organise their events.

Her worship further noted that the site should also serve as a marketing tool for events happening in Namibia to the world at large. Windhoek has recently attracted a number of regional and international conferences, which shows that Namibia will soon be one of the preferred venues for a number of these workshops and conferences.

“This preference is made possible by the clean air Windhoek has to offer and the warm hospitality of our people” Her worship exalted, and this site will facilitate the smooth organisation of such workshops.

She further alluded to the fact that the site will add tremendous value to the Namibian businessman and the man on the street, simply because it is available to anyone. Her worship in conclusion commended Watkins and le Roux for their efforts and especially congratulated them for taking pride in the Team Namibia initiative, which is Namibia’s branding campaign for quality Naturally Namibian products, services and destinations.
