Team Namibia hosted a media briefing on 2 March 2006, in the Namdeb Conference Room. The main aim of the media briefing was to inform the public on our status since our inception in 2004 as well to introduce new members to the public.

Mr Shaanika, Chairman of the Team Namibia Board of Directors said that the media briefing marked the beginning of Team Namibia’s third year in business as an organisation. He boasted that Team Namibia is entering the New Year with great satisfaction about their achievements thus far.

The primary projects for this year and beyond are focused on the Team Namibia marketing campaigns that will be carried out throughout the country. Mr Shaanika further informed that Team Namibia will be concentrating their promotional efforts on the domestic market and until Team Namibia is fully accepted domestically, it may prove unwise to market Namibian products and services in foreign markets.

The marketing campaigns are aimed at convincing and urging the Namibian public to buy into the concept of Team Namibia and its generic brand, Naturally Namibian, the Naturally Namibian brand is an endorsement brand that signifies that a product is made in Namibia and that the company or product carrying it has met a set of criteria.

The message that will be transferred through these ongoing campaigns are aimed at creating awareness about, who Team Namibia is, how the Naturally Namibian trademark relates to the Team’s objectives, who can participate and what benefits the campaign will give to participating companies and individuals.

Another important message that will be streamlined in the campaign is that of National Pride, Ms Gustavo, the Sales and Marketing Co-ordinator emphasised that Proud Namibians will buy Namibian and these acts will add to job creation and economic prosperity. She further noted that by supporting local Namibians are being responsible citizens and making their contribution to the development of our country.

New members that joined the campaign since October 2005 to end January 2006 were presented with their membership certificates which symbolises their participation in the Team Namibia campaign. Mr Shaanika welcomed all the new members and urged them to see their membership as being part of a Team and the team is geared towards making sure Namibians buy local and support local in as far as they possibly can in order to create more markets for Namibian products and services of good quality and to increase local production in order to create more jobs for the people of Namibia.

The new members were also urged to associate themselves to the campaign and to the brand because without their support the Team will be unable to meet their objectives.
