The Team Namibia Founder Sponsors renewed their membership with Team Namibia on 29 June 2005. They handed over their renewal fees to the Team Namibia Patron, His Excellency, Dr. Sam Nujoma at a local hotel.

Christian Faure, from MTC speaking on behalf of all the Founder Sponsors said “Team Namibia is not a patriotic endeavour designed to generate a ‘feel-good’ factor for Namibia and its people. Team Namibia is not about providing an avenue for marketing and advertising of Namibian goods and services. Team Namibia is not about protecting those entities that import products from other countries, add a ridiculous mark-up, and then maintain that the Namibian market is too small. Team Namibia is about CAPACITY”.
Thus he felt that them (Founder Sponsors) renewing their membership with Team Namibia re-affirms their commitment to the Team Namibia initiative because they see the value the campaign can add to Namibia.

On receiving the fees from the Team Namibia founder sponsors, His Excellency, Dr. Sam Nujoma expressed his satisfaction with the Private Sector who he says “seem to be keen to be associated with this important national initiative and through this, promote economic development in our country”.

The patron further emphasised that a campaign such as the one Team Namibia has initiated will assist in reaching the Namibian Vision 2030 goals of economic growth, poverty eradication, and create employment opportunities for all the people of Namibia, one way of enhancing economic growth is the adoption of robust marketing strategies of Namibian products and services in the local, regional and international markets.

The Founder Sponsors comprise of Bank Windhoek, First National Bank of Namibia, Mobile Telecommunications (MTC), Namdeb Diamond Corporation, the Ohlthaver and List Group of Companies and Telecom Namibia.

The Founder Sponsors urge all Team Namibia current members to renew their membership and others who have not joined the campaign yet to do so, because by joining the Naturally Namibian campaign; members will actively be participating in nation building, by promoting national pride in “Naturally Namibian” products, services and destinations.

The ‘Naturally Namibia’ (NN) is an endorsement brand that signifies a particular company; service or product has met a set of criteria relating to local content (33%), quality (must be of high quality), fair labour and environmental responsibility.
