In an attempt to create pride and
build on the credibility of Team Namibia, Namibian products and
services, Team Namibia recently launched a “Goodwill Ambassador”
club. The club membership is exclusively for individuals of social
stature, who are influential and are in a position to assist Team
Namibia in promoting local products and services.
Nianell, Namibia’s singing sensation and most successful
export flew in from Johannesburg to pledge her support to Team Namibia
and subsequently launch the club.
Speaking at the launch, Nianell pledged her support to Team Namibia
in a passion filled oath, by saying “by supporting Team Namibia,
we support a shared vision of prosperity, greatness and a voice
on the global stage. By supporting the products and services of
Team Namibia members, we commit ourselves to supporting organisations
that employ Namibians and generate incomes for individuals and families,
I pledge my support to Namibia, its products, services and everything
else that is from here. I urge you to do the same”
The songbird and songwriter currently based in Johannesburg said
she agreed to join the club because she believes “Namibians
are capable of greatness, at home and abroad. By drawing on the
support of those around us, by standing on the shoulders of the
giants in our midst, we can become great”. Her description
of the organisation was exalted, she defined Team Namibia as not
only a group of organisations that calls Namibia their home, Team
Namibia it is more than a statement of the origins and loyalty of
products and services. Team Namibia “is an opportunity to
associate with and draw support from people who have the power to
change our future” said Nianell.
Speaking at the same occasion, the Team Namibia board chairman,
Mr Tarah Shaanika, urged all Namibians to “rally behind the
ambassadors as they strive to build unquestionable credibility for
Namibian products and services”. He noted that increased consumption
of Namibian made, in both local and international markets “will
result in increased local production, job creation and economic
growth and this is a good reason for every Namibian to support our
efforts by consuming Namibian products and services”.
Joining the Ambassadors club on the same day was Michelle Heitha-Pokolo,
Miss Namibia 2001, who is eager to take on her role as an Ambassador
for “Namibian Made”. Nianell and Michelle join the ambassadors
club after His Excellency, President Hifikepunye Pohamba who joined
this club in June 2005 long before it was launched.
The Team Namibia ambassadors club has also thus far recruited,
the Honourable Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Dr Abraham
Iyambo and Eliakim Shiimi, a well known business personality in
the country.
The organisation will plough efforts to recruit more individuals
to this exclusive club. BE NAMIBIAN –BUY NAMIBIAN, you know
it makes sense!
