To celebrate our Nation’s 22nd birthday, Team Namibia is hosting an Independence Day Fiesta on Friday, 16 March at Onyati Adventures, Avis from 14h00 – 19h00 with authentic Namibian food and drink. With the focus being on independence, Team Namibia will be announcing the winner of their National Cook-Off Competition for 2012, which will be the highlight of the Independence Festivities. The winner will walk away with prizes valued over N$ 5 000-00.

A quick shout out to the top ten finalists that were chosen by the Namibia Chef's Association yesterday:

  • Jaqi Oberholzer - Kudu Krokette
  • Anna Tobin - Kabeljou fillets stuffed with Omajovas
  • Anne Visagie - Gemsbokfillet
  • Rozetha van Rooi - Tradisioenele kerrie-skaapafval potjie
  • Karape Katjivive - Herero Traditional Dried Meat
  • Hesta von Solms-Maritz - Potgebraaide wildsvleis met portwyn
  • Lourensia Nortier - Smoked Silver Angel served with fresh cream caramel "potbrood" and in season salad topped with Calamari Rings
  • Maila Kalipi - Kapana and Vetkoek
  • Rebekka Hidulika - Meekulu's Delight
  • and last but not least, the only male Jacques Hurter - Roasted game fillet filled with smoked mussels, garlic and parsley served with a Basil gravy and accompanied by a sweet corn tart and a salad.

'Namibia’s National Dish to be announced at the Team Namibia Independence Day Fiesta'

To celebrate our Nation’s 22nd birthday, Team Namibia is hosting an Independence Day Fiesta on Friday, 16th March 2012 from 14h00 – 19h00 at Onyati Adventures, Avis in association with FNB Namibia and the Namibian Chefs Association. The festivities will include displays by Team Namibia member companies, loads of local food and drink and plenty of entertainment for children. The perfect day out for family and friends! The highlight of the day will be a live cook-off (ala Masterchef style) to announce Namibia’s National Dish for 2012.

Team Namibia’s mandate is to generically promote Namibian products, services and destinations – locally and internationally – under one umbrella brand. Our vision for 2012 is to gain trust and enthusiasm for Team Namibia and we will focus on the impact that ‘buying local’ will make on Namibia’s economy.
